New 18 September 2004
It's more than two months ago something happened here on the web site. I have been busy with a lot of things and now you may see some of it here.
Today's update consists of pictures from this summer in
Ängelholm with Rose festival.
Peter moved home from Skövde over the summer and then moved to Kalix in the very
very north of Sweden. He is as far away from here as it is from here to Italy.
For two years he will study to be a journalist and that has been his goal al the
time.
Then in the beginning of August we once again had guests from America. It's such great fun every time it happens. Now it was Anna Ebbesson's grand daughter Barbara and her husband Ed that came to see us. Barbara's father is Carl Arvid Anderson who became 90 last year. We had good time and managed to do quite a lot during just a few days. Have a look see what we did and who we met.
For the last weeks most of my free time has been dedicated to Engelholm Marching Band. The band was invited to the Swedish Military Tattoo in Stockholm and the Globe arena. No school band has ever got this chance. You can compare this to participate in a World Championship if you are sportsman so this is really BIG. Marching Band improved on everyone during the week and did some very good performances. I guess their parents were more nervous than the children when they entered the Globe Arena with more than 7000 spectators.
The goose skin returns when I look at the pictures.
Both Wiveca and I were there to keep an eye on the children and that wasn't a
hard job. We really enjoyed it a lot and I hope you will enjoy the pictures. The
trip also reminds us how beautiful our capital Stockholm is.
Have a good time and enjoy the beautiful colors coming up now.
New 12 July 2004
Hallo from a rainy Ängelholm. The weather hasn't been nice
the last weeks in the south of Sweden.
The day before Midsummer Eve we got a visit from Todd and Christa from Zagreb.
The weather was as bad it can be, rain and rain, but we had a good time anyway
but in the afternoon on Midsummer Eve we gave up and drove south. We had company
to Lübeck in Germany where we went different ways. Many thanks for your visit
and hopefully we will get better weather next time.
We went to Lido di Jesolo in Italy to attend a Swedish band festival together with Engelholm Marching Band. It was a wonderful week with sun, swimming and music.
After that Wiveca I went to San Marino, Assisi, Florence, Pisa, St. Moritz and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We had a wonderful time and brought a lot of memories with us back home where our three children waited with meatballs, potatoes and lingberries.
New 13 June 2004
Time passes by and now is Johan also a "Student". the graduation took place last Friday and it was a wet celebration. Just in time when all the students were supposed to run down the stairs in front of Kärnan in Helsingborg dark clouds with rain and thunder came in from Denmark. Every student and all the spectators got very wet but it doesn't' matter when you have such a good thing to celebrate. The sun arrived when we came back to Ängelholm and we had a good time.
Congratulations JOHAN !!!

New 26 October 2003
Yesterday was the last Saturday in October and as the traditions says it's Ryds Market in Höganäs. When you are born in Höganäs this is something you just have to visit. You meet a lot of old friends from school and relatives that you seldom meet otherwise.
New 21 October 2003
Today's update is special. Today is Greta Gunnarsson's 90th birthday. Wiveca, my mother and I were happy to be there to celebrate it at Ljunghaga in Höganäs. Greta was in very good shape and in a fantastic mood. She sung for us and we sung for her. For the second time this year I were attending a 90 birthday party and for the third time this year one of August and Katharina's grandchildren reached the respectable age of 90. Cool isn't it?
The special thing today is that I have used my new digital camera for the photos. I have been conservative using my old Minolta but now I have taken the step into the digital world. What the pictures look like you have to decide by yourself. Hurray for Greta.
New 19 October 2003

New 7 June 2003
A lot of things have happened since my last update.
Karolin's confirmation took place the 10th of May and she surprised us by
playing Amazing Grace on Trumpet in church. Her proud father got some tears in
his eyes.
I have been in USA to celebrate Carl Arvid Ebbeson's 90th birthday. This was an extra ordinary experience. Carl and his wonderful wife Rita took such good care of me. They had promised me to meet me with open arms and warm heart and they did really fulfill their promises. Except from all of Carl's friends and relatives I also met two of Todd's daughters, Katie and Anne. They took me to River Falls and it's great to have such wonderful relatives where ever you are going.
When I got back home it was just to start packing again for going to Kamen in Germany. Kamen is Ängelholm's sister town and they were celebrating a 25 years anniversary. Engelholm Marching Band was selected to represent Ängelholm. Wiveca, I and a bunch of other parents to musicians in the band followed as supporters as usual. New 3 August 2002.
Hi everybody, I hope you have had a wonderful summer so far.
We have been back for a while from our vacation that in some parts was very similar as the one last year. We spent the first week in Lido di Jesolo in Italy where Karolin and Engelholm Marching participated in the yearly Swedish Band Festival. This update is coming a bit late because I also manage the orchestra's web page. Do you want to see more pictures from Italy? You are welcome to www.emband.cjb.net.
From Italy we went to Zagreb to see Todd and Christa. As usually they took such good care of us and we also got to see Christa's son Stephan. Before we went we got some very useful information for the rest of our trip.
We drove from Zagreb to Sarajevo and Mostar in Bosnia-Hercegovina. Very interesting and well worth seeing places with friendly and helpful people even though the signs of war are many.
The rest of the trip was a lot of sun and swimming along the wonderful coast of Croatia. On our way home we also stopped in the beautiful town Salzburg in Austria
As you might have guessed this update consists of pictures from this wonderful trip

At the same time we got a chance to take part of the celebrations of Peter's girlfriend Caroline's graduation. There are a lot of pictures from the celebrations.

New 8 December 2001.
It's Christmas very soon and you get surprised every year that we are already
there. Tomorrow it's the second Sunday in Advent and it isn't much more than two
weeks left to Christmas Eve.
Today's update consists of some pictures from Peter's home in Skövde. We did
visit him in his small student apartment November 17. We found out with great happiness
that he is very satisfied with both his studies, his living and the other
students. The most remarkable was that the Christmas tree was already decorated
in the common TV-room.
There are also some pictures from the yearly Brass Festival in Ängelholm where Karolin
participated together with Engelholm Marching Band. At last there is a picture
off our church in Ängelholm.
To all of you, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and take it easy with the Christmas preparations.
New 11 November 2001.
Fall is here and soon it's winter too, at least if you look in the calendar. Last Sunday we celebrated Father's Day here in Sweden and today you may see two new pictures of my Father, Erik Ebbesson.
New 3 November 2001.
Hi all of You, it was a while ago since last update here on our homepage. Even if nothing has happened here there have been a lot of things going on in the world and I think everyone of us is somehow affected by the horrible things that took place September 11.
But life goes on anyway and there are both good and sad news. We start with the good ones.
On the 1st of October a new small branch started to grow on the family tree. Morae
and Bryan Becker had a daughter, her name is Margaret Lee
Becker. We wish the child and her parents all the best. Margaret arrived the day
after the 90 birthday of Bryan's grandmother, Ann Becker.
The tree has also got some new new branches that we got from Wivieca's cousin, Margareta Isaksson. Thank you very much.
Then we have the sad news. I got to know yesterday by email that Dick Ebbeson passed away the 30 October in his home in Pembroke. Dick was one of many we met last year on our trip to USA and the memory of him will be alive for ever. You may read the obituary in Bangor Daily News by clicking on the name of the newspaper.
Today's update ends with some words from Dick that I have found in his book of Gretel.
Opportunity doesn't knock but once.
It knocks continually but we don't want to be bothered.
If at first you don't succeed, don't worry -- that's average.
Dick Ebbeson
New 29 August 2001.
Two days in a row, it has happened before but not very often. The reason of today's update is an email I got today from Inga Jacobsson in Sydney, Australia. We are distant relatives, both genetic and geographic even we are born the same year at the same hospital in Ängelholm. One of Inga's ancestors is Gabriel Avila Wassilioff, born in Moscow and. He was chosen by lottery as one of eight brothers to join the army. In the war against Sweden he became a war prisoner and was sent work in the mines of Höganäs. When the war was ended he and some of the other Russians stayed in Höganäs. Avila got married and his grandson Anders Petersson married Cornelius Nyman's granddaughter Emilia. That's how our trees are grown together.
Inga found my homepage by a coincidence and thanks to that I have now via Australia learned more about my town of birth, Höganäs. Life is fantastic, isn't it?
New 28 August 2001.
Today's update is a couple of pictures from a reunion of rowers that competed in the 60ths and 70ths. For many of us this was the first time we met for over 20 years. Some had less hair, some had gray hair and many of us was a bit heavier. But we had a lot of fun and the rowing went better than expected even if we got very tired very soon.
New 25 July 2001.
Hallo again, it was a while ago since something happened but here comes an update with a lot of pictures from this summer vacation. First week we spent in Lido di Jesolo, close to Venice in Italy. Karolin was there together with Engelholm Marching Band which was one of the bands that participated in a Swedish Band Festival that lasted the whole week. It was a fantastic week with sun and swimming in daytime and concerts every evening. Marching Band did very well and got a lot of well deserved praise.
Then we headed for Zagreb in Croatia to see Christa and Todd Becker. We met Todd last year in USA and it was fun to meet again. They took very good care of us and their hospitality had no limits. They gave us some very interesting days in a country that was new for us. If we are lucky we will see Christa and Todd in Sweden next year.
On the way home we went through Slovenia and Czech Republic with stops in their capitals. Specially Prague with it's nice old houses is worth a trip of its own.
Unfortunately the summer hasn't only been happiness for all of us. The Ebbesson family has lost two of its members.
Greta Ebbeson died quietly in her home the 4th of July, she was 80 years old in March this year. She lived all her life in the same house that Arvid and Constance once bought.
Rut Persson (born Ebbesson) died the 21st of July. Rut lived her last years at a nursery home in Uddevalla to be close to her daughter Gunnel. Rut had several stokes and after the last one she couldn't fight against it any longer. Rut became 81 years old.
Both happiness and sorrow in this update, kind of what life is most of the time. Take care.
New 10 June 2001.
Here are there pictures from the celebrations of Peter's graduation.
New 10 June 2001.
Hallo everyone it was while since latest update but here I am again. We have been renovating our house and the preparations for and celebrations of Peter's graduation have taken all our time so there haven't been much more done than that. But now the house is almost ready and Peter's graduation and all his deserved celebrations are over. Pictures from the graduation are coming later this week when all the films are developed.
Today's update consists of pictures from Svenskt Ungdoms Tattoo - Jönköping 25 maj 2001 (Swedish Youth Tattoo) where Karolin was playing trumpet in Engelholm Marching Band. The band ended on third place even if they were favorites among many of the audience. Even those who not came from Ängelholm.
There are more music pictures from the Ängelholm Music School Festival in which both Peter and Karolin participated.
At last the tree is updated and now we have, Mattias, the third child of Berne and Eva Jönsson in it thanks to a remark I got in a mail from his brother Jesper. We can also say welcome to the world and into the three to Vilgot, the third child in the Rasmusson - Klingberg family. Then we have some new facts about Dick's daughter's daughter Johanna Constance Look who found my homepage when she was looking for facts about her grandfather Dick Ebbeson. It's great fun isn't it? How small the world gets thanks to Internet.
I will also wish you a wonderful and warm summer and don't forget to get some time to do just nothing.
New 8 April 2001.

Today's update is really interesting, go to the family page and read The story about Arvid and Constance, their common childhood in Höganäs and how they get reunited in Bangor, Maine.
Thank you very much Eric Ebbeson, who is the writer of this historical document.

New 21 January 2001.
Merry Christmas again, maybe a bit to late but this update contains a lot of old Christmas cards and postcards that have been sent from Arvid o Constance, Anna o Alfred, Hjalmar o Anna and Hedvig Höganäs. Thanks to Stig Ebbesson who has made this possible. After he had cleaned their attic he gave this treasure to me.
There is also a new photo of Bror Jönsson when he is on a visit in Gothenburg. Thanks to Tore Dahl who sent me the photo.
Then there is new picture on the first page but I guess you have already seen that one.

New 1 January 2001.
I hope this year will be good year for all of us. On this very first day there is an update on the tree. I have finally got all the names from the little black book with my grandfather's brother Oscar's research. He did a big research about the Nyman family. The tree grow quite a bit and there are now 1.409 names in it. I wonder what Oscar might have thought if he had known that his research should be visible on Internet one day. You can also view the tree on this address
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/e/b/b/Jan-Ebbesson/index.html (click on familytreemaker at the left)
here you can get a better overview if you are interested.

We all hope you had a peaceful and nice Christmas Holiday. Christmas Eve was according to the tradition celebrated in Ängelholm in our house together with Jan's parents, Inga and Erik and Wiveca's mother, Greta.
